The bravest woman
That I got to know
Was a six foot cowgirl
Queen of the rodeo
I was a hostile bull
In a plastic cage
I was a handful
But she held my gaze
She could have said yes
She could have said no
Instead she said hey
I don’t know
The event was going down
In Mexico
She said « Holy cow!»
I’ve always wanted to go
She booked a flight
With her pocket dinero
She might earn it back
If she wins this rodeo
She could have just bailed
And never left the meadow
Instead she said hey
Come on let’s go
I should have been stressed
But I kept it mellow
This wasn’t my first
Rodeo
She took a chance
And stepped right in the fire
She rode my pride
Like she’d never ride again
And instead of twirling
And throwing her over
For a sec
I let her sit there
And I asked for her name
The crowd was booing
In a Mexican slang
The riders were protesting
With an American twang
I could have been me
End it in a wiggle
Instead I broke free
And solved the riddle
I took off like a bird
And the sky was getting closer
The crowd was speechless
Riders kneeled and prayed
My baby leaned forward
and yelled « will you be my lover? »
« I don’t think I can answer
I’m a bull in a cage »
But I felt so high
As we kept on flying higher
From a bull to an eagle
She’d freed me from my rage
So I spread my wings and yelled
« I wanna be your lover »
And I swooped down to the arena
Like a metal paper plane
And my lover
She leaned further
And stroked my courage with her hand
We landed in the dust
And the bulls looked jealous
My lover looked stunning
And the riders looked vicious
The crowd was cheering
And reporters took her photo
Cause she was the queen
Of the rodeo
She got on my back
And we headed to the meadow
We lived on love alone
And on her rodeo dinero
She ended up on TV
And on the radio
Cause she was the queen
Of the rodeo
